Meet Leni, the Movie Maker!

Imagine a super talented artist who loved to dance and then discovered she could make movies! That was Leni Riefenstahl. She was born a long, long time ago in Germany. First, she was a dancer, twirling and leaping all over Europe. Then, she saw a movie poster and thought, 'I want to be in movies!' So she did, and she was really good at it. She even started making her own films!

Movies for Big Crowds!

Leni became famous for making two very special movies in the 1930s. One was called 'Triumph of the Will,' which showed big parades and speeches. The other was 'Olympia,' about the Olympic Games. These movies looked super cool and were made in a brand new way that impressed everyone. But, the government Leni worked with at that time was very, very bad, and that made her movies controversial.

A Difficult Time

After the big war ended, people were upset with Leni because she made movies for the bad government. She said she didn't know how bad things really were. Later in her life, she became a photographer and took amazing pictures of people in Africa called the Nuba people. She lived to be over 100 years old!

Why We Remember Leni
