Lee Kuan Yew

Imagine a small island with no special treasures, like gold or oil. That was Singapore a long time ago! But Lee Kuan Yew, who everyone called LKY, had big ideas.

He was born in Singapore in 1923. He studied far away in England and became a lawyer. When he came back, he wanted to make Singapore a great place for everyone.

He worked super hard to build new buildings, schools, and jobs. He was like a master builder for his country!

When LKY became Singapore's leader in 1959, it was a very different place. He helped Singapore become its own country and not ruled by others. He made sure people from different backgrounds could live and work together.

He also made sure the government was honest and didn't take bribes. This helped Singapore grow very, very fast. It became a place with tall buildings and busy streets, like a super-fast growing city!

LKY was Singapore's Prime Minister for a very long time, from 1959 to 1990! That's longer than you've been alive! He believed in working hard and being smart.

He made rules to help everyone get a good education and good jobs, no matter where they came from. He wanted Singapore to be a place where everyone had a chance to succeed. He was a very important person who helped shape the Singapore we see today.

Lee Kuan Yew is remembered because he took a small island and helped turn it into one of the most successful countries in the world. He believed in making things fair and clean. Even though he was a leader for a long time, his ideas about building a strong country still matter. He showed that with hard work and smart planning, even a small place can become amazing!
