Meet Mrs. Bush!

Laura Bush was born in a town called Midland, Texas. She loved to learn and became a teacher for second graders! Imagine teaching kids all about reading and math.

Later, she became the First Lady of Texas, which is like being the governor's special helper. Then, her husband became the President of the United States, and she became the First Lady of the whole country! That means she lived in the White House, a very famous big house in Washington D.C.

From Teacher to First Lady

Before living in the White House, Laura Bush was a teacher. She got a special degree to be a teacher and then another one to be a librarian. She met her husband, George W.

Bush, and they got married and had twin daughters! When her husband was the governor of Texas, she helped start programs to make sure kids had books and learned to read well. She even gave a big speech at a special party for her husband's campaign!
