Who Were the Kassites?

Long, long ago, in a land called Babylon, there was a special group of rulers called the Kassites. They were like a super-long royal family that stayed in charge for more than 400 years! That’s longer than your great-great-great-great-grandparents have been alive!

They came from somewhere else, maybe from tall mountains, and took over Babylon. But they didn't change everything; they actually helped make Babylon even better!

Building a Better Babylon!

These Kassite kings were busy builders! They loved making the big temples in Babylon even grander. Think of it like adding extra cool slides and swings to your playground!

They also helped farmers grow more food by making new fields. This meant more yummy food for everyone. Under their rule, Babylonian culture, like their stories and art, became famous and spread to other places, like a popular song everyone starts singing.

A Long, Long Reign

The Kassites ruled Babylon for a really, really long time, from about 1595 BC to 1155 BC. That’s a period called the 'Middle Babylonian' time. It was the longest time any royal family ruled Babylon!

Even though they came from far away, they learned the ways of Babylon and kept its traditions alive. They brought peace and order after a time when things were a bit chaotic, like cleaning up a messy room so everyone can play nicely.

Secrets of the Kassites

We don't know everything about the Kassites because there aren't many old writings left. It's like trying to solve a puzzle with missing pieces! But we do know they made special stone tablets called 'kudurrus'. These stones told stories about gifts the kings gave away. They were like important certificates showing who got what. The Kassites helped Babylonian culture shine bright for centuries!
