John Dryden

He became so good that people called him the greatest writer of his time! He was like a superstar of words, making people laugh and think with his amazing writing.

John Dryden didn't just write one kind of thing. He wrote funny plays that people watched in theaters, and he wrote beautiful poems that sounded like music. He even wrote about important people and events. One of his most famous jobs was being the 'Poet Laureate,' which is like being the official poet for the king! He got to write special poems for big royal parties and celebrations.

Even though John Dryden lived hundreds of years ago, his stories and poems are still read today. He helped make the English language sound more exciting and clear. John Dryden was born in a place called Aldwincle in England. He went to a fancy school called Westminster School and then to a famous university called Cambridge. He worked hard his whole life, writing amazing things until he passed away in 1700. He left behind a treasure chest of words for us to discover and enjoy!
