Who Was This Founding Father?

Imagine a super smart lawyer who loved to read and write! That was John Adams. He was born a long, long time ago, even before cars or airplanes! He was one of the most important people who helped the United States become its own country, free from England. He was so important, he even became the second president, like a captain of the whole country!

From Lawyer to Leader!

John Adams started his career as a lawyer, which means he was really good at understanding rules and laws. When America wanted to be free from England, he was a big voice saying, 'Let's do it!' He helped write the Declaration of Independence, the paper that said America was a new country. He was also a diplomat, which is like a super ambassador, traveling to other countries to make friends for America.

America's Second Captain!

After helping America become a country, John Adams became the Vice President, which is like the President's right-hand person. Then, he became the President himself! He had to make big decisions, like keeping America safe and deciding if it should fight in wars happening in other parts of the world. He even lived in the very first White House!

A Friend and a Writer

John Adams loved to write down his thoughts in diaries and letters. He wrote to his wife, Abigail, who was also very smart and helped him a lot. He even wrote to his friend and sometimes rival, Thomas Jefferson. It's amazing that John Adams died on the same day America was born, July 4th, exactly 50 years later!
