A Royal Childhood Adventure
James V became king when he was just a baby! His dad, James IV, died in a big battle. So, James V had lots of people helping him rule when he was little.
When he grew up, he loved to travel around his kingdom in disguise. He wanted to see how his people really lived, not just what the fancy lords told him. He even wrote songs and poems!
He was like a secret agent king, exploring his own land and making music.
Scotland's Super King!
James V was known as the 'King of the Commons' because he cared about ordinary people. He would travel around Scotland, sometimes dressed as a poor man, to hear their problems. He wanted to make sure everyone was treated fairly.
He also loved to build and improve things, like ships and palaces. He even had a special navy to protect Scotland's coast. He was a busy king, trying to make Scotland strong and happy.
Learning Like a Prince!
Even though he was a king, James V knew learning was important. He was taught by smart people and became very educated. He learned about history, languages, and how to rule. He believed that a good king needed to be smart and understand the world. He even sent young Scottish men to study in other countries, like France, to bring back new ideas. This helped Scotland grow and become more advanced.
