What's This Big List All About?

Imagine a giant report card for countries, but instead of grades for math or reading, it's about how good they are at coming up with new and clever ideas! This is the International Innovation Index. It’s like a game where countries try to score points for inventing cool new things, making new gadgets, or finding better ways to do things.

It helps us see which countries are super creative and good at making new inventions happen.

Who Made This Awesome Idea List?

A few smart grown-ups got together to create this special list. In 2009, a group called The Boston Consulting Group, along with two other organizations called the National Association of Manufacturers and The Manufacturing Institute, decided to make it. They wanted to know which countries were the best at inventing and making new things.

They asked lots of people who work in companies for their ideas to help make the list super accurate.

Why Does Being Creative Matter So Much?

Being good at inventing new things helps countries in many ways. It can help people get better jobs, create exciting new products that make our lives easier, and even help solve big problems in the world. When a country is good at innovation, it means they are thinking ahead and making the future brighter.

It’s like planting seeds for amazing new trees that will grow into something wonderful later on.

How Do They Figure Out the Scores?

To make this list, the grown-ups looked at lots of different things. They asked over 1,000 people who work in big companies about how they invent new things. They also looked at what governments do to help inventors, like making special rules or offering help. They compared 110 countries and even all the different states in America to see who was doing the best job at being innovative.
