What's an Insecticide?

Imagine tiny bugs trying to eat your yummy strawberries or fly into your house. Insecticides are like special helpers that stop these bugs! They are chemicals made to get rid of insects. Sometimes they are used in gardens to protect plants, or inside homes to keep bugs out. They can even help stop bugs that carry yucky germs from making people sick.

Bug Battles Through Time!

People have been trying to get rid of bugs for a very, very long time. Long ago, they used natural things like plant juices or smoke. But as science got smarter, people started making stronger bug-fighting sprays. These new sprays were more powerful and could get rid of more bugs, helping farmers grow more food and keeping homes cleaner.

Why We Need Bug Helpers

Some insects are super helpful, like bees that make honey! But others can cause big problems. They can eat crops that we need for food, like corn and apples. Some bugs can also spread yucky sicknesses. Insecticides help farmers protect their crops so we have enough food to eat, and they help keep us safe from bug-borne illnesses.

Different Kinds of Bug Fighters

Insecticides aren't just one kind of spray. Some are made to stop bugs when they are tiny babies, called larvae. Others are made to stop the eggs before they even hatch. There are also sprays that work on other creepy crawlies like spiders and scorpions, not just insects! They are different from bug repellents, which just make bugs run away.
