Howard University is known for being a place where lots of important research happens. Think of it like a giant laboratory where scientists are always trying to discover new things. It's so good at this that it has a special title: R1.

This means it's one of the best places in the whole country for doing super-advanced research. It's the only university for Black students, called an HBCU, that has this amazing R1 title!
