Welcome to a World of Wonders!

Imagine a giant building filled with amazing things from all over the world and even outer space! That's the Houston Museum of Natural Science. It's a place where you can see enormous dinosaur skeletons that are taller than a school bus and tiny, colorful butterflies fluttering all around you.

You can also learn about sparkling gems and rocks that look like they came from another planet. It's like a treasure chest of science waiting to be opened!

How This Museum Got Started!

A long, long time ago, in 1909, some really smart people in Houston wanted to share their love of science with everyone. They created an organization to build a special place where people could learn for free. Over the years, this idea grew and grew, and now it's this huge museum complex with different buildings for different kinds of science fun.

It started as a dream and became a real place for learning!

Why It's So Popular!

Guess what? This museum is one of the most visited museums in the whole United States! In just one year, over 1.5 million people came to explore. That's more people than can fit in a giant stadium! People love coming here because there are always new and exciting special exhibits that change, so there's always something new to see and learn. It's a place that makes science exciting for everyone!

Adventures Inside!

Inside the museum, there are four whole floors packed with cool exhibits. You can travel to the stars in the planetarium, which is like a giant movie theater for space. You can walk through a special rainforest in the Butterfly Center, where hundreds of colorful butterflies fly around you.

And you can watch amazing movies on a super big screen in the Wortham Giant Screen Theatre. It’s a place where every visit is a new adventure!
