Key Facts
Meet the Mighty Victory!
HMS Victory is a super old, super big wooden ship that's like a floating castle! It has 104 cannons, which is a LOT of boom! It's so old that it's been around for more than 240 years. That's longer than anyone you know has been alive! It's the oldest ship in the world that's still ready to sail.
Where Did This Giant Come From?
This amazing ship was ordered a super long time ago, back in 1758, when people wore funny hats and rode horses everywhere. It took a lot of trees to build her, about 6,000 trees, mostly oak. That's like a whole forest! She was finally finished and floated out in 1765, but she didn't sail much at first because there wasn't a war.
Victory's Big Adventures!
Victory has seen many exciting battles! She sailed in the American Revolutionary War and fought in big sea fights. Her most famous adventure was at the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805. That's where Admiral Nelson, a very famous sailor, was in charge. Even though she's very old, she's still a special ship today and is like a museum you can visit!
Why Victory is So Cool!
HMS Victory is special because she's a survivor! She's been sailing for centuries and has seen so much history. She's a reminder of how ships used to be built and how people fought at sea. Today, she's carefully looked after so everyone can learn about her amazing past and the brave sailors who sailed her.
