Key Facts
Welcome to the Roof of the World!
Imagine a place so high, it touches the clouds! That's Tibet. It's a huge, flat land called a plateau, surrounded by the tallest mountains on Earth. It's like a giant's playground, with clear blue skies and super cold winters. Many people have lived here for a very, very long time, even before anyone wrote down stories.
When Stories Began to Be Written!
For a long time, nobody wrote down Tibet's history. Then, about 1,400 years ago, people invented a special alphabet to write their language. This helped them tell stories about powerful kings and a big empire that once ruled many lands. They also learned about a religion called Buddhism, which became very important to them.
Monks, Lamas, and Special Leaders
Tibet is famous for its Buddhist monks and wise teachers called Lamas. The most special Lama is the Dalai Lama, who is like a spiritual leader. Over hundreds of years, the Dalai Lama became the main leader of Tibet, guiding the people. Imagine a leader who is also a wise teacher!
A Land of Many Changes
Tibet's story has seen many changes. Sometimes it was independent, and sometimes other powerful countries had influence. In recent times, Tibet has become part of China. This has led to many Tibetans living in other countries, sharing their culture far and wide.
