Where is Korea?

Korea is like a long, skinny finger pointing down from the big Asian continent. It's a peninsula, which means it's surrounded by water on three sides! To the north is China and Russia, and to the east and west is the big, blue sea. The weather can be hot and rainy in the summer, and super cold and snowy in the winter. It's a place with tall mountains and pretty rivers, perfect for adventures!

Long, Long Ago: The First Koreans!

People have lived in Korea for a super, super long time, even before dinosaurs! The very first Koreans made pottery, which is like making bowls and cups from clay. Then, people learned to use bronze, like shiny shields, and later iron, like strong swords.

They built kingdoms, which were like big neighborhoods ruled by kings and queens. One of the oldest kingdoms was called Gojoseon, and it started a very, very long time ago, even before many of your grandparents were born!

Three Kingdoms and a Big Change!

For a while, Korea was split into three kingdoms: Goguryeo, Baekje, and Silla. They were like three big teams playing on the same playground, sometimes fighting, sometimes sharing. Silla was the strongest and managed to unite them all!

Later, another kingdom called Balhae popped up. Then, a new dynasty called Goryeo took over, and they were famous for their beautiful art and inventions. They even had a special system for choosing smart people to help run things!

Kings, Queens, and a Special Alphabet!

The next big dynasty was called Joseon. This was a very important time! King Sejong the Great was a super smart king who invented Hangul, the Korean alphabet.

It's like a secret code that's easy to learn and use. This made reading and writing much easier for everyone. Korea also faced some tough times with invasions, but brave heroes like Admiral Yi Sun-sin helped protect the country.

Later, Korea became a special empire before facing more challenges.
