Who Was Hank the Deuce?

Imagine being the grandson of someone super famous, like the inventor of the first car! That was Henry Ford II, or Hank the Deuce as some people called him. He was born a long, long time ago, in 1917.

His grandpa was Henry Ford, the man who made cars for everyone. Hank grew up in a family that loved cars and building big things. He was a businessman, which means he helped run companies and make important decisions.

Taking the Wheel of a Car Giant!

When Hank grew up, he didn't just drive cars, he helped run the whole Ford Motor Company! It was like being the captain of a giant ship. From 1945 to 1960, he was the president, making sure everything ran smoothly.

Then, he became the CEO, which is like the boss of the whole company, until 1979! That’s a lot of years steering the ship. He also helped start a big charity called the Ford Foundation.

Making Ford a Public Star!

One super cool thing Hank did was make the Ford Motor Company a 'publicly traded corporation.' What does that mean? It means that lots of people could buy little pieces of the company, like buying shares in a lemonade stand, but way bigger! This happened in 1956.

It helped the company grow even more and build more cars for people all over the world. It was a huge step for the company his grandpa started.

A Family Legacy of Cars

Hank the Deuce was the oldest son of Edsel Ford and the oldest grandson of Henry Ford. So, cars were in his blood! He took over the company when it was already famous, but he helped it become even bigger and more modern. He worked hard for many, many years to make sure the Ford name stayed strong in the world of cars. He was a very important person in the history of cars.
