Henri Herz

Henri Herz was a super-duper piano player and composer who lived a long, long time ago. He was born in a country called Austria but spent most of his life in France. He was so good at the piano that he taught other people how to play at a famous music school in Paris for over 30 years! He wrote lots of amazing music for the piano, like exciting concertos and beautiful waltzes.

Henri Herz started his life in Austria in 1803, which is even before your great-great-great-grandparents were born! When he grew up, he moved to France and became a French citizen. He loved music so much that he didn't just play and write it, he also helped build pianos! He was a professor at the Paris Conservatoire, which is like a super-important music university, for more than three decades.

Henri Herz wrote music that made people feel happy, excited, and sometimes a little bit dreamy. He wrote eight piano concertos, which are like big musical stories for the piano and an orchestra.
