Where is Harare?

Harare is like the brain of Zimbabwe, sitting high up on a big, flat hill called a plateau. It's in the northeastern part of the country. Think of it as being on a giant table! The air is usually nice and fresh because it's so high up, about as high as 10 giraffes stacked on top of each other! It has a climate that's warm and sunny, but not too hot, perfect for playing outside.

A City Built by Explorers!

Harare wasn't always called Harare. A long, long time ago, in 1890, brave explorers called the Pioneer Column arrived. They built a fort and named it Fort Salisbury after a very important person in England. For many years, it was the center of government. Then, in 1982, it got a new name, Harare, to celebrate Zimbabwe becoming an independent country!

What's Happening in Harare?

Harare is a super busy place! Lots of people live here, and many work in important jobs like running businesses, teaching, and making things. It's also a place for fun! It has hosted big sports games like the All-Africa Games and even part of the Cricket World Cup. Plus, it's home to a famous football team called Dynamos FC, which has won lots of games!
