Where is This Big Water?

The Gulf of Finland is like a giant arm of the Baltic Sea reaching out! It has Estonia on one side and Finland on the other. At the very end, where a big river called the Neva flows in, is a super-duper big city in Russia called Saint Petersburg. It’s a very important spot for boats to travel to and from this city!

Cities on the Water's Edge!

Lots of people live near the Gulf of Finland. Two of the biggest cities are Helsinki, the capital of Finland, and Tallinn, the capital of Estonia. These cities are like busy hubs right on the water. Think of them as the front doors to the gulf, with lots of boats coming and going all the time.

A Busy Highway for Ships!

This gulf is like a superhighway for ships! Many important oil ports are located here, especially on the Russian side. These ports help move oil from one place to another. Because so many ships use this route, it’s very important for Russia to keep it safe and open.

Water Worries and Cool Ideas!

Sometimes, the water in the Gulf of Finland can get a bit messy because it’s not very deep. This means that problems affecting the whole Baltic Sea can be even worse here. But guess what? People have even thought about building a super-long tunnel UNDER the water to connect Finland and Estonia!
