Key Facts
Meet Prince Geta!
Once upon a time, in the mighty Roman Empire, lived a young prince named Geta. He was born a long, long time ago, on March 7th, in the year 189. Geta wasn't just any prince; he was part of a royal family that ruled the huge empire. He even got to be an emperor for a little while, alongside his dad and his older brother!
Sharing the Throne... Not So Easy!
Geta and his older brother, Caracalla, were supposed to rule the Roman Empire together after their father, Emperor Septimius Severus, passed away. Imagine sharing your toys, but with an entire empire! It turned out they really didn't like sharing power. They argued and argued, and sadly, it didn't end well for Geta.
A Royal Rumble!
The Roman Empire was a super big place, like having a playground that stretched across many countries today! Geta and Caracalla were supposed to be like co-captains of this giant playground. But they couldn't agree on anything. Their dad wanted them to be best buddies and rulers, but they just couldn't get along.
The End of the Road for Geta
Sadly, the story of Geta as emperor was very short. He ruled with his father and brother from 209 until 211. But in December of 211, something very sad happened. His brother Caracalla, who couldn't stand sharing, had Geta murdered. It's a reminder that even in royal families, sharing and getting along is super important.
