Gabriel Fauré was a French composer, which means he wrote music for orchestras and singers. He was born a long, long time ago, in 1845, and lived until 1924. From a Young Boy to a Famous Composer
When Gabriel was just nine years old, he went to a special music school in Paris. He learned to play the organ, which is a giant keyboard instrument often found in churches. One of his teachers, Camille Saint-Saëns, became a great friend.
Even though he was busy being an organist and teacher, Gabriel found time to write his beautiful songs and pieces. He even had to sneak away on holidays to focus on composing!
