Meet the First King of Prussia!
Frederick I was a very important person a long, long time ago. He was born in 1657 and lived until 1713. He was part of a royal family called the Hohenzollerns.
He was like a prince who got to be king! He was first known as Elector of Brandenburg, which is like being a big boss of a land. Then, he became the Duke of Prussia.
But he wanted an even bigger title, so he made himself the first King of Prussia!
Where Did Frederick Live?
Frederick lived in a place that is now part of Germany. Back then, it was called Brandenburg and Prussia. It wasn't one big country like we have today, but more like different lands ruled by the same family. He also ruled a place called the Principality of Neuchâtel, which is in Switzerland today! Imagine having a kingdom that stretched across different countries!
Becoming a King!
Frederick was already in charge of Brandenburg and Prussia, but he wanted to be called a King. In 1701, he made it happen! He became King in Prussia. This was a super big deal because it meant his land was becoming more important. It was like going from being a class president to being the principal of the whole school! He was the very first person to have this special title.
What Did Frederick Do?
Frederick was a ruler, which means he made important decisions for his people. He was also interested in building things. He helped build a beautiful palace called Charlottenburg Palace in Berlin. It's a huge and fancy building that you can still visit today! He wanted his kingdom to look grand and important, and building big palaces was one way to do that.
