Meet Princess Françoise!

Once upon a time, in France, there was a princess named Françoise Marie de Bourbon. She was born a very long time ago, in 1677. She was the youngest daughter of King Louis XIV, who was so famous he was called the 'Sun King'!

Her mom was his special friend, Madame de Montespan. Françoise Marie was a princess, which meant she lived in fancy palaces and wore beautiful dresses. She was part of a very important royal family in France.

A Royal Wedding!

When Françoise Marie was only 14 years old, which is like being in 4th or 5th grade, she got married! She married her cousin, Philippe d'Orléans. He was going to be a very important person in France later on, called the Regent. This means he would help rule the country when the king was too young. Their wedding was a big, grand event, just like a fairy tale, but it was real life for a princess!

Her Royal Family Tree

Françoise Marie had eight children! Some of her children grew up and had their own children, and their children had children too. This made her like a great-great-great-grandma to many kings and queens in other countries like Spain, Italy, and Belgium. So, even though she lived a long time ago, her family is still important in royal families today!

A Little Bit of Trouble

Even though Françoise Marie was a princess, she wasn't always in charge of big decisions. She didn't have a lot of power to tell people what to do. Once, there was a plan to try and get her husband, Philippe, removed from his important job. This plan didn't work out, and it was called the Cellamare Conspiracy. It shows that even royal people can get mixed up in tricky situations!
