Key Facts
Meet the Big School!
Fordham University is like a giant learning playground in New York City! It started a super long time ago, way back in 1841. That's older than your grandparents' grandparents!
It's named after a neighborhood called Fordham in the Bronx, which is a part of New York City. It's one of the oldest Catholic and Jesuit schools in the whole northeastern United States. Think of it as a very wise, old tree that keeps growing new branches of knowledge!
A Trip Back in Time!
Once upon a time, a bishop named John Hughes wanted to start a school. He asked some very smart and dedicated people called Jesuits to help run it. They named it St. John's College. Over many years, it grew and changed, and now it's called Fordham University. It has been around for so long that it's seen horse-drawn carriages turn into speedy cars and black and white TVs become colorful screens!
Where the Smarty Pants Go!
Fordham University is a special place where about 15,300 students come to learn. They come from all over the world, like from 65 different countries! The school has three main spots, called campuses. One is in the Bronx, one is in Manhattan (where the tall buildings are!), and another is in a town called Westchester. It's like having three different adventure zones for learning!
Super Sports Stars!
Did you know Fordham has amazing sports teams called the Rams? Their football team has won big games, and some players even became famous in the NFL! Even cooler, they played in the very first televised college football game ever! Their baseball team also played the first college baseball game with today's rules and has had tons of players go on to play in the big leagues. Go Rams!
