Where is This Amazing Place?

Imagine a special spot right in the heart of Nigeria, like the yummy filling in a sandwich! That's where the Federal Capital Territory, or FCT, is. It's not part of any state but is its own special area.

The main city here is called Abuja, and it's like the country's main office where important decisions are made. The land is mostly flat with some hills, perfect for building a brand new city. It gets warm and rainy, then warm and dry, like having two different kinds of weather each year!

Building a Brand New City!

Long ago, Nigeria's leaders wanted a capital city that was easy for everyone to get to. So, they decided to build Abuja in the center! It was a huge project, like building a giant LEGO city.

They started building it in the 1980s. Before that, Lagos was the capital, but it was very crowded and far away for many people. Abuja was designed to be modern and organized, with wide roads and lots of green spaces.

It's like planning a perfect playground before you even start playing!

Who Lives and Works Here?

People from all over Nigeria and even other countries live in the FCT. They speak many different languages, but English is used for important things like government and school. Life in Abuja is busy!

Many people work for the government, in offices, or in businesses. You'll see people selling colorful fabrics, delicious food, and all sorts of things in the markets. It's a place where different cultures come together, making it a vibrant and exciting home for many.

Learning and Growing in the Capital

Education is super important in the FCT! There are lots of schools, from little kindergartens to big universities. Kids go to school to learn reading, writing, math, and science.

Teachers help them discover new things and prepare for the future. There are also special schools for learning skills like art, music, and technology. The government wants everyone to have a chance to learn and grow, so they build many schools and make sure they have good teachers.
