Where the Planes Used to Play!

Evergreen Field was like a big playground for airplanes! It was a special place where planes would take off and land, located just a little ways east of the city of Vancouver. Think of it as a giant parking lot for flying machines, but way more exciting because they could zoom into the sky! It was a busy place for pilots and their amazing aircraft.

A Trip Back in Time!

This flying field started its adventure way back in 1944. A person named Roy C. Sugg wanted a place for planes, and he got permission to build it! Then, in 1945, a new owner named Wally Olson took over. For many years, it was home to a cool club called the Northwest Antique Airplane Club, where people loved old planes. It was a place filled with the roar of engines and the excitement of flight!

More Than Just Flying!

Guess what? Evergreen Field wasn't just for flying! It was also a place for fun events called 'Evergreen Fly-Ins'. People would come from all over to see the planes and enjoy the day. Later, houses were built right next to the airport, so people could live and have planes right in their backyard! It was a unique neighborhood where you could hear planes overhead.

The End of an Era

Even though Evergreen Field was a super fun place, it eventually closed its doors in 2006. The land was going to be used for something new, but sometimes big plans don't always work out. Even though the airport isn't there anymore, the memories of all the planes and fun events live on!
