Meet the Super-Sized Bridge!

The Eshima Ohashi Bridge is a super long and tall bridge in Japan. It's like a giant pathway connecting two places called Matsue and Sakaiminato. It's so big that it's the largest bridge of its kind in all of Japan! It was built a long time ago, from 1997 to 2004, so it's been there for many years, helping people travel.

Why Does It Look So Steep?

When you see pictures of the Eshima Ohashi Bridge from far away, it looks like it goes straight up into the sky! It's like a really scary slide. But guess what? It's a trick of the camera! The real slopes are not that steep. One side is like climbing a gentle hill, and the other is even gentler. It's much easier to drive on than it looks!

A Bridge That's a Hero!

Before this amazing bridge was built, people had to wait a lot. There used to be a drawbridge that had to lift up for boats to pass. This meant cars had to stop for a long time, sometimes 7 or 8 minutes! Also, only small trucks could cross. The new Eshima Ohashi Bridge lets lots of cars and bigger trucks go across easily, making travel much faster and better for everyone.

Connecting Two Worlds

This bridge is like a super-connector! It helps people and things get from one side of the Nakaumi lake to the other. Imagine if you lived on one side and your best friend lived on the other, and there was no easy way to visit. This bridge makes it super simple! It's a very important way for people to travel and for businesses to move their goods.
