Who Was Emperor Taishō?
Imagine being the boss of a whole country! That's what Emperor Taishō was for Japan. He was the 123rd emperor, which means he was like the 123rd person in a very long line of rulers.
His reign was called the Taishō era, and it happened from 1912 to 1926. This was a time when Japan was changing a lot, becoming more like a modern country. He was born a prince and became emperor when his dad, Emperor Meiji, passed away.
A Time of Big Changes!
Emperor Taishō's time as emperor was super interesting! Japan was involved in a big world fight called World War I. There was also a sickness that spread everywhere, called the Spanish flu.
And a giant earthquake shook the ground in a city called Kantō. Even though he was the emperor, he had some health problems and couldn't do all the official duties later in his life. His son, Hirohito, became a regent to help out.

Emperor Taishō had a very important job, but he also had some challenges. He became emperor in 1912. Sadly, he had health issues for a long time.
Because of this, he couldn't be as active in running the country as some emperors before him. From 1919 onwards, he didn't do many official duties. His oldest son, Hirohito, became the regent, which means he acted like the emperor to help make decisions.
Emperor Taishō's Family
Emperor Taishō wasn't just an emperor; he was also a dad! He married a lovely lady named Sadako Kujō. Together, they had four sons. His father was the famous Emperor Meiji. Emperor Taishō was proclaimed crown prince when he was still a young boy, around 9 years old, because his older brothers had passed away when they were babies. He was born in 1879 and passed away on Christmas Day in 1926.
