Elizabeth Brown: Star Detective!

Imagine a super-curious person who loved to gaze up at the sky, especially the Sun! That was Elizabeth Brown. She was born a long, long time ago, in 1830.

She was a Quaker, which meant she belonged to a special group of people. Elizabeth wasn't just looking at the sky for fun; she was a real astronomer, which is a scientist who studies stars and planets. She was especially interested in the Sun and its amazing spots and eclipses!

Elizabeth spent lots of time watching the Sun. She used special tools to look at it safely, of course! She was like a detective, searching for clues on the Sun's surface.
