Ebussuud Efendi was a very important person in the Ottoman Empire a long, long time ago. He was like a super-judge who knew all about rules and fairness. He lived from 1490 to 1574, which is a super long time!
He was so good at his job that people called him 'El-İmâdî' because his family came from a special village. He helped make sure the laws were just and clear for everyone living in the empire.
A Judge's Big Adventure!
Ebussuud Efendi started his career as a judge in different cities like Bursa and Istanbul. He was like a detective for laws, making sure they fit with the important religious rules. The big boss, Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent, noticed how smart and fair Ebussuud was.
He promoted him to be the top judge, called Shaykh al-Islām. This was a HUGE job, like being the principal of the whole country's school of law! He did this job until he was very old.
