Meet Earth's Super-Hot Center!

Deep, deep down, way below the ground we walk on, is Earth's inner core. It's like a giant, solid ball made of metal! This ball is super, super hot, even hotter than the surface of the Sun. It's so hot that it's hard to even imagine! This fiery heart is the very center of our planet.

How Big is This Hot Ball?

This inner core is pretty big! If you could see it, it would be about as wide as the distance from New York City to Los Angeles. It's about 20% of the whole Earth's size. Even though it's smaller than the Moon, it's still a huge, hot metal ball right in the middle of our planet.

What's It Made Of?

Scientists think this inner core is mostly made of iron and nickel, like the metal in some coins. It's a special kind of metal mix. Even though it's super hot, it stays solid because of the incredible pressure pushing down on it from all the layers above. It’s like squishing playdough really, really hard!

Why Can't We Visit?

We can't dig a hole to the inner core because it's too deep and too hot! Scientists learn about it by studying earthquake waves, like listening to echoes. These waves tell us what the inside of the Earth is like, even though we can't see it directly. It’s a hidden treasure at our planet's center!
