Where Did Donnacona Live?

It was a beautiful area with lots of trees and fresh water. The people who lived there were called the St. Lawrence Iroquois. They had their own special way of life long before explorers arrived.

A Surprise Trip Across the Sea!

A French explorer named Jacques Cartier came to visit. He met Donnacona and his people. But then, something surprising happened! Cartier decided to take Donnacona and some other people all the way to France. That's like taking a trip across the whole world! Imagine going from your home to a place you've never seen before, across a giant ocean.

A Chief's Big Adventure

Donnacona traveled to France, which is very far away from Canada. He saw new things and met new people. Sadly, Donnacona got sick in France and passed away. It was a very different place from his home. Jacques Cartier later came back to Canada, remembering the people he had met, including Chief Donnacona.

Remembering Donnacona

Even though Donnacona's story is from a long, long time ago, it's important to remember him. He was a leader of his people in Stadacona. His journey to France shows how different cultures met, even if it was in a surprising way. His story is a part of the history of Canada and the people who lived there first.
