Daniel Bernoulli

Daniel Bernoulli was a super-smart scientist who lived a long, long time ago, from 1700 to 1782. He was born in a place called Basel, which is in Switzerland. Daniel came from a very famous family of mathematicians, so he was practically born with numbers in his brain! He loved to solve puzzles using math and figured out amazing things about how things move.

Daniel was super curious about how liquids, like water, and gases, like air, move. He discovered something really cool called Bernoulli's Principle. Imagine blowing on a piece of paper – it lifts up! That's because the fast-moving air above it has less push than the slower air below. This idea helps us understand how airplanes fly and how cars work!

Guess what? Daniel's ideas are still used today! The shape of an airplane's wing is designed using his principle. When air rushes over the curved top of the wing faster than the air below, it creates lift, and the plane flies! His work also helped with things like carburetors in cars, which mix air and fuel to make the engine run.

Daniel wasn't the only smart one in his family. His dad and uncle were also famous mathematicians! It was like a family business of solving big problems. Even though he had a famous family, Daniel made his own incredible discoveries that still help us understand the world around us, from the wind in the trees to the water in a river.
