Where Did the Romans Live?

Ancient Rome was like a giant kingdom that stretched super far, from cold places near Scotland all the way to hot deserts in Africa! Its heart was the city of Rome, built on seven hills. Think of it like a giant playground with amazing buildings like the Colosseum, where gladiators used to fight.

Many Romans lived in tall apartment buildings called insulae, packed together like LEGO bricks. It was a very busy place, much bigger than most cities today!

A Day in Ancient Rome!

Life in Rome was exciting! People lived in different kinds of homes, from small houses to fancy villas. The city was huge, with over a million people! They had theaters for plays, places to exercise, and lots of shops and baths. To feed everyone, they had to bring food from far away using clever roads and boats. They even built special bridges called aqueducts to bring fresh water into the city.

Learning and Fun!

Romans loved to learn, especially from the Greeks! Rich kids had tutors, sometimes even girls, who taught them reading, writing, and math. They also learned about art and stories. Many smart people, like doctors and artists, came from Greece to help the Romans. They brought their beautiful statues and ideas for gardens, making Roman homes and cities look amazing!

Trading Treasures!

The Romans were great builders and traders. They built amazing roads that were so good, they were like the roads we have today! This meant they could send goods all over their huge empire. They traded things like wine and olive oil from places like Spain and Africa. It was like a giant online store, but with chariots and ships instead of trucks!
