Welcome to Coleridge, Where the River Flows!

Coleridge is a special place in North Carolina, a state in the United States. It's not a big city with tall buildings, but a cozy community nestled along the Deep River. Think of it like a small village where everyone knows each other!

It's near other towns like Ramseur and not too far from a bigger city called Greensboro. It's a place where the land is a little bit higher than the river, about as high as a tall playground slide!

How Coleridge Got Its Name!

Long, long ago, there was a kind man named James A. Cole who owned a store. He was a merchant, which means he sold things people needed.

Because he was so important and well-liked in the area, the people decided to name their little community after him! So, Coleridge is like a special thank you to Mr. Cole.

Before it was called Coleridge, it had another name, Foust's Mill. That sounds like a place where they might have ground grain to make flour!

A Place to Remember!

Coleridge is so special that a part of it is on a list called the National Register of Historic Places! This means it's a place that people want to protect because it's important to history. Imagine finding a really old toy that tells a story about the past; that's kind of what the Coleridge Historic District is like. It helps us learn about how people lived a long time ago.

Roads and Time Zones!

Even though Coleridge is small, it has roads that help people get around! Highway 22 is one of them, and it meets up with Highway 42 right in the middle of town. Highway 42 then takes you to another place called Bennett.

And guess what? Coleridge is in a time zone called Eastern Standard Time. This means when it's lunchtime in Coleridge, it's also lunchtime in many other places on the East Coast of the United States.

It's like everyone is on the same clock!
