Key Facts
What's a Character City?
A City of Character is like a special club for towns and cities that want to be extra good! They promise to be kind, honest, and helpful. Grown-ups in charge, like mayors and leaders, work together to make sure everyone in the city tries their best to be a good person. It's like a whole town playing a game of 'be nice'!
Who's in the Club?
Lots of cities want to join this club! The people who started it, called the International Association of Character Cities, say there are over 171 cities in the United States and 48 more in other countries that are Character Cities. That's a lot of places trying to be super good neighbors!
How Do They Do It?
To become a City of Character, leaders make special rules, like laws, that encourage everyone to be good. They also give awards to people who show great character, like being brave or fair. They even have websites and papers to help other cities learn how to join the club!
Why Be a Character City?
When a city is a City of Character, it means people try to be fair, responsible, and caring. This makes the city a nicer place to live for everyone. Imagine everyone sharing their toys or helping someone who fell down – that's what a Character City is all about!
