The Skin Detective!

Imagine being a detective, but for skin! That's what Cicely Pearl Blair was. She was a doctor who studied skin and found out why some spots on our skin look black. She noticed that people with albinism, who don't have much color in their skin, don't get these black spots because they don't make melanin, the stuff that makes those spots dark. How neat is that!

A Buggy Discovery!

Cicely also learned about tiny, fuzzy caterpillars called brown-tailed moths. Sometimes, their tiny hairs can cause itchy rashes on people's skin. Cicely wrote about this so doctors would know what was happening and how to help people feel better. It's like she was a superhero for itchy skin!

From Science to Sparkle!

After being a doctor, Cicely didn't stop being creative. She became an amazing artist, especially with silver! She made a special shiny necklace, called a 'chain of office,' for the boss of a big doctor's group. It was so fancy and showed off her incredible talent for making beautiful things.

A Colorful Life!

Cicely Pearl Blair lived a life full of learning and making. She helped people understand their skin better and even created beautiful art. She showed us that you can be smart in science and also super creative with your hands. What a wonderful way to live!
