He had a very special voice that could be clear and bright like a bell, or deep and rumbling like thunder. He sang over 1,200 songs in his life! That's more songs than you have days in three years! He was so good that people all over the world loved his music.

Charles was born in Paris, France, a city famous for its beautiful buildings and yummy pastries. His parents were from Armenia, a country far away. He started singing when he was just a kid and worked really hard to become a star. He even sang for important people like presidents and kings! He was like a musical ambassador, sharing his songs everywhere he went.
