Chance: What's Going to Happen?

Chance is like a mystery box! It's what decides if something will happen or not. Think about flipping a coin. Will it be heads or tails? That's chance at work! It's not something you can see or touch, but it's always around us, making things a little bit surprising. Sometimes things happen because of chance, and sometimes they happen for a reason we can understand.

People have thought about chance for a very, very long time. Long ago, people used to throw dice, like the ones in board games, to guess what might happen. They used these games to try and understand if things were decided by luck or by something else. It's like they were trying to peek into the future, but only a little bit!

Chance is super important because it helps us understand the world! When you play a game, chance decides who wins. When you plant a seed, chance helps decide if it will grow into a big plant. It helps scientists learn about weather and how things grow. Even when you're just waiting for your turn, chance is playing a part!

Chance works by giving different things a possibility of happening. Imagine a bag with 5 red balls and 5 blue balls. If you close your eyes and pick one, there's a chance you'll get red and a chance you'll get blue. Each ball has an equal chance of being picked. It's all about how many options there are and how likely each one is to pop up!
