Born Carol Joan Klein, she became one of the most famous songwriters ever. She wrote so many hit songs that they filled up the music charts for years and years. In the 1960s, Carole King and her husband Gerry Goffin were a songwriting dream team. They wrote over 24 hit songs for other singers! But then, Carole decided to sing her own songs. Her first album was called 'Writer,' but her next one, 'Tapestry,' was a HUGE success. It stayed at the top of the music charts for 15 weeks, which is longer than most kids are in school for a whole semester!

Did you know Carole King wrote 118 songs that made it onto the Billboard Hot 100 chart? That's more songs than you have fingers and toes, and then some! In the UK, 61 of her songs became hits. She was the most successful female songwriter on the UK charts for a super long time, from 1962 all the way to 2005. That's longer than you've been alive!

Carole King has won four Grammy Awards, which are like the biggest trophies for music. She's also been put into the Songwriters Hall of Fame and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame – twice! She even received a special prize from the Library of Congress for her amazing songs. She's a true music superhero!
