Key Facts
Paris's Gigantic Backyard!
The Bois de Boulogne is a super-duper big park in Paris, France. It's like the city's own giant backyard! It's so large that it takes up half of a whole neighborhood called the 16th arrondissement.
Think of it as a huge green carpet spread out for everyone to enjoy. It's not the only giant park in Paris, but it's the second biggest, just a little smaller than its sister park on the other side of the city.
A Park Made by an Emperor!
A long, long time ago, an emperor named Napoleon III decided Paris needed a special place for people to relax and play. He gave the land to the city in 1852, and it was turned into this amazing park. It was designed to be a beautiful place with winding paths, pretty lakes, and even a little waterfall called a cascade. It’s a place that has been loved by people for many, many years.
Fun for Everyone!
This park is packed with exciting things! There’s a special garden called the Jardin d'Acclimatation that has a zoo and an amusement park – imagine rollercoasters and cute animals! You can also find beautiful botanical gardens with thousands of plants, and even a place dedicated to learning about nature.
Plus, there are special tracks for exciting horse races and a famous tennis court where big tournaments happen!
So Much Space to Explore!
The Bois de Boulogne is HUGE! It covers about 845 hectares. To give you an idea, it's about two and a half times bigger than Central Park in New York City. That's a lot of space for trees, lakes, and fun activities. You could spend a whole day exploring and still not see everything. It’s a place where you can run, play, and discover new things around every corner.
