A billionaire is someone who has at least one billion dollars! That's a 1 with nine zeros after it: 1,000,000,000. It's so much money, it's hard to even imagine. Think about all the candy you could buy, or all the video games! It's more money than most people see in their whole lives. It's like having enough money to buy a whole playground, and then another one, and another one!

Billionaires usually get their money by owning big companies. These companies make things people want to buy, like phones, cars, or even the apps you play on. When lots and lots of people buy these things, the company makes a lot of money.

The owner of the company gets a big share of that money. It's like if you invented a super popular toy, and everyone wanted to buy it. You'd get rich from selling all those toys!

A billion dollars is a HUGE amount of money. If you stacked dollar bills on top of each other, a billion dollars would be taller than a skyscraper! It's more money than all the students in your school could count in a lifetime. In fact, there are over 3,000 billionaires in the world right now. That's like having a whole city of people who are super, super rich!

The very first person to be called a billionaire was John D. Rockefeller. He lived a long, long time ago, back in 1916. He made his money from oil, which was like black gold back then. It was used to power cars and light up homes. He was so rich, he was like a superhero of money! Now, there are even people called 'centibillionaires' who have over 100 billion dollars!
