Blast Off with Barry!

Imagine being an astronaut! Barry Wilmore is one of those super-brave people. He was born a long, long time ago, on December 29, 1962.

Before he zoomed into space, he was a pilot for the Navy, flying super-fast jets. He's been to the International Space Station, which is like a house floating in space, more than once! He even helped test new rockets and spacecraft.

He's spent a lot of time way up high, floating among the stars.

A Space Explorer's Adventures

Barry has been on five incredible space missions! His very first trip to space was in 2009, and it lasted for 11 whole days. That's longer than a whole week of school!

He's spent a total of 464 days off Earth. That's more than a year! He also spent 32 hours floating outside of his spaceship, which is like walking around in your backyard, but in space!

He flew on a big rocket called the Space Shuttle Atlantis and even helped test a brand new spaceship called Boeing Starliner.

Super Space Facts!

That's like taking a very, very long walk! He was a test pilot, which means he flew new planes and rockets to make sure they were safe for everyone. He helped build and test the T-45 Goshawk jet trainer, a special plane for pilots learning to fly.

He's a real space hero!

Barry's Space Journey Continues

Even though Barry is retired from being an astronaut, his adventures in space are still amazing to learn about. He's been a part of important missions that help us learn more about our planet and the universe. He's a true pioneer, helping to make space travel safer and more exciting for future astronauts. His journeys show us that with hard work and bravery, we can reach for the stars!
