Meet the Speedy Shuttlecock!

Imagine a game where you hit a little feathery thing called a shuttlecock with a racket. That's badminton! It's played by two people or two teams of two. The goal is to hit the shuttlecock over a net so your opponent can't hit it back. It's a super fast game that needs quick hands and lots of energy. You can play it inside or outside, but it's best when there's no wind!

Where Did This Game Come From?

Badminton started a super long time ago, over 2,000 years ago, in places like ancient Greece and China. But the game we play today started in a country called India. British soldiers saw it being played and brought it back to England.

They called it 'Poona' at first. Later, it was played at a big house called Badminton House, and that's how it got its name! It became a popular game for fun and for sports.

Why Badminton is Awesome!

Playing badminton is great for your body! It makes your heart strong and helps you run faster and jump higher. It's also really good for your brain because you have to think quickly to hit the shuttlecock where your opponent can't reach it. It’s a fun way to get exercise and make friends. Plus, watching the shuttlecock zoom through the air is super exciting!

How to Play Like a Pro!

In badminton, you use a racket to hit the shuttlecock. The shuttlecock is shaped like a cone with feathers on top, making it fly in a special way. You have to hit it so it lands inside the lines on your opponent's side of the court. If it goes out of bounds or hits the net, the other player gets a point. The first player or team to reach a certain number of points wins the game!
