Meet the Ba'ath Party!

For a long time, from 1968 to 2003, Iraq was run by a special group called the Ba'ath Party. Think of it like a club that made all the rules for the country. This party believed in making Iraq strong and united. They came to power after a big change called the 17 July Revolution. It was like a new team taking over a game, but without any fighting!

Saddam Hussein Takes the Wheel!

A very famous leader named Saddam Hussein became the main boss of Iraq. At first, he helped the country get richer and made life better for many people. He even tried to share the land more fairly. But ruling a country is tricky! There were groups of people who wanted to be separate, like the Kurds, and others who had different ideas about how things should be run.

Big Fights and Tough Times

Saddam Hussein led Iraq into some very big wars. One was with a neighboring country called Iran, and it lasted for eight long years! Another was with Kuwait, which led to a war with many countries helping out. These wars made Iraq very poor and caused a lot of problems for the people living there.

The End of an Era

After many years, the United States and other countries decided to invade Iraq in 2003. They removed Saddam Hussein from power. He was later put on trial and punished for bad things he did, like hurting people who disagreed with him. This marked the end of the Ba'ath Party's rule in Iraq.
