Giants of Asia!

Imagine an animal as big as a school bus! That's an Asian elephant! They are the largest land animals in Asia and have a special trunk that's like a super-hand, with one finger at the end to pick up tiny things.

Boys often have big, white tusks that stick out, but girls usually don't. Their skin is wrinkly and gray, and sometimes it has lighter patches on their ears and trunk. They are truly amazing creatures!

Where Do They Live?

Asian elephants love to explore! They live in many different places across Asia, from the tall mountains of Nepal to the sunny islands of Borneo and Sumatra. You can find them munching in grassy fields, wandering through thick, green forests, and even in drier areas with thorny bushes. They are like nature's explorers, comfortable in all sorts of homes!

Yummy Elephant Snacks!

These gentle giants are herbivores, which means they only eat plants! They have huge appetites and can gobble up about 150 kilograms (that's like 300 big apples!) of leaves, grass, and bark every single day. They use their amazing trunks to grab tasty snacks and bring them to their mouths. It's like having a built-in snack-grabber!

Family Time and Lone Wolves

Asian elephants have interesting social lives. Mama elephants and their babies, called calves, often stick together in family groups. The grown-up boys, however, like to hang out by themselves or with a few other boy elephants, like a bachelor club! Sometimes, during mating season, the boys will join the girls for a little while before going back to their own adventures.
