Artemis

Imagine a giant rocket, way bigger than a school bus, ready to zoom into space! That's Artemis! It's a special mission by NASA, the space explorers, to take people, including the first woman and the first person of color, all the way back to the Moon.

They're going to walk on the Moon, collect rocks, and see what it's like to live there for a little while. It's like a super exciting field trip to another world!

We've been to the Moon before, but Artemis wants to do even more! Think of it like visiting your favorite playground. The first time you went, you just played on the swings.

But now, you want to try the slide, climb the monkey bars, and maybe even build a sandcastle! Artemis is going to explore new places on the Moon, like the South Pole, where there might be ice. This ice could help astronauts live there longer and even travel to Mars someday!

The most important part of Artemis is the super powerful rocket called the Space Launch System, or SLS. It's the most powerful rocket ever built! It's so tall, it's like a skyscraper reaching for the clouds.

This rocket will carry astronauts in a spaceship called Orion, which is like their comfy home in space. Orion will take them to the Moon and bring them safely back to Earth. It’s a huge team effort to make sure everyone stays safe!

On the Moon, astronauts will be like super scientists. They'll use special tools to dig into the Moon's surface and look for water ice. They'll also test out new spacesuits and vehicles to help them travel around.
