Who Was Queen Anne?

Anne of Cleves was a queen in England a long, long time ago, way back in 1540! She was born in a place called Germany. She became queen because she married King Henry VIII, who was a very famous king. But her time as queen was shorter than a school day! She was queen for only a few months before things changed.

A Royal Wedding Surprise!

King Henry VIII wanted to make friends with Anne's brother, who was like a prince in Germany. So, he decided to marry Anne! She traveled all the way to England to meet him. They got married, but King Henry wasn't very happy. He said he didn't feel like they were really married, and so Anne wasn't crowned queen. It was a bit like a surprise twist in a story!

The King's 'Beloved Sister'

Even though she wasn't queen for long, King Henry was still nice to Anne. He gave her lots of money and land, and called her his 'Beloved Sister'. She stayed in England and lived a long life. She even saw the next kings and queens rule! She was friends with the royal family for many years.

Anne's Amazing Long Life

Anne lived longer than all of King Henry's other wives! She saw England change a lot. She was even at the party for Queen Mary's coronation, which was a big celebration. When she passed away, she was buried in a very special place called Westminster Abbey, just like a queen should be.
