Meet Andrew, a Friend to Everyone!

Imagine a super-helper who wanted everyone to be treated fairly. That was Andrew Cray! He was a kind person who worked really hard to make sure that people who were LGBTQ (that means lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer) were treated just like everyone else.

He believed that everyone deserved to be safe and have good healthcare. Andrew was like a champion for fairness, making sure that all voices were heard and respected.

How Andrew Helped People Get Healthy

Andrew knew that sometimes it was tricky for people to get the health insurance they needed. He worked with important people in the government, like those at the White House, to create a special program called Out2Enroll. This program was like a helpful guide, showing LGBTQ people how to find and get health insurance.

It made sure they could see doctors and get the care they needed to stay healthy and strong, just like you do when you go to the doctor!

Making Sure Everyone Gets a Chance to Live!

Andrew also cared a lot about people who needed organ transplants. Sometimes, people with HIV had a harder time getting these life-saving transplants. Andrew helped make a new law, called the HOPE Act, which made it easier for them to get the help they needed.

This was a HUGE deal because it meant more people had a chance to live a long and happy life. It was like giving everyone a fair shot at being healthy!

A Champion for Kids Who Need a Home

Andrew was also a big friend to kids who didn't have a safe place to live. He helped make changes to a law that helps homeless young people. He made sure that LGBTQ youth, who sometimes have a harder time finding a home, were included and helped.

This meant that even if they were facing tough times, they could still get the support and a safe place to sleep at night. Andrew wanted all kids to feel safe and cared for.
