Key Facts
Welcome to the Jungle River!
Imagine a super-duper big park in Colombia, right next to the giant Amazon River! This park is called Amacayacu. The name 'Amacayacu' sounds like 'river of hammocks' in a special language. It’s a place full of green trees and amazing animals. A big part of the park gets flooded by the river every year, like a giant bathtub filling up!
A Land of Floods and Sunshine
This park is like a giant playground that’s mostly flat, not too high up. The ground is only about as high as a tall building, maybe 200 to 300 meters. The weather is always warm, like a perfect summer day, with temperatures staying between 26 and 28 degrees Celsius. It’s always sunny and warm, perfect for plants and animals to grow and play!
Home to Amazing Creatures!
Scientists love Amacayacu because it’s bursting with life! They have found so many different kinds of animals here. Think of all the cool creatures you might see at the zoo, but even more! This park is like a treasure chest filled with amazing bugs, colorful birds, and maybe even some shy monkeys hiding in the trees.
People of the Park
Some special people called the Ticuna live in parts of Amacayacu. They have lived there for a very, very long time and know all the secrets of the jungle. They are part of the park's story, just like the trees and the river. They help take care of this special place and share its wonders.
