Key Facts
Where Did the Soldiers Go?
Lots of soldiers from countries like Britain, France, and the United States traveled to Russia. Some landed in a cold, snowy place called Arkhangelsk in the north. Others arrived in a city far away called Vladivostok, near the ocean. It was like sending helpers to different corners of a giant playground to fix a problem!
Why Did They Come?
At first, these soldiers were sent to make sure important supplies didn't fall into the wrong hands, especially after a big fight called World War I. They also wanted to help their own soldiers who got stuck. Later, they tried to help one side of the Russian fight, called the White forces, win their battle.
A Tricky Mission!
But it wasn't easy for these helpers! The soldiers had different ideas about what to do, and they were tired from fighting in World War I. It was like trying to play a game when everyone has different rules. Because it was so hard, the helpers eventually went home.
Going Home
Most of the soldiers left Russia by 1920. But some stayed a little longer. The soldiers from Japan stayed in Vladivostok until 1922, and they even stayed on an island called Sakhalin until 1925. That's a long time to be away from home!
